Solvent-soluble stains

1- Colored stains:

These are stains with color.
Dye cannot be dissolved as in the case of pigments (lipstick, nail polish, some paints, lacquer etc... Dye is said to be water soluble if the stain is removed after being soaked in water (as in some cases of paint and dye). However, there are some stains which need solvents for them to be removed (wax, grease, other dye, paint, shoe polish etc…).

2- Grease and oil stains

Grease can come from animals, vegetables or minerals. Synthetic fibres (polyester, nylon, acrylic etc…) are oleophilic, that is they have properties which retain greasy substances. Dry cleaning is the best means to take out these types of stains.
